Adding videos to iTunes becomes as easy as drag and drop

Add any video format to iTunes

VideoDrive supports over 20 video formats, including mov, mpg, mpeg, mp4, m4v, avi, wmv, m2v, flv, wma, divx, mkv, asf, dv, 3gp, ogg, ogv, gif, xvid, omg, trp, flac, m2ts, eyetv, mts, ts, vob and VIDEO_TS. Videos can be converted inline with HandBrake, Elgato Turbo.264 (HD) or QuickTime.

Turn iTunes into a Media Center

VideoDrive is compatible with iTunes Home Sharing so you can stream your videos to all your devices. Make sure to enable Home Sharing on every device in your household by logging in with the same AppleID. All videos you have added to iTunes with VideoDrive can be streamed to other iTunes installations (both Mac and Windows), iPhone, iPad and AppleTV.

Find matching descriptions, artwork and subtitles

Finding metadata online

VideoDrive analyzes your movie file names and applies several algorithms to find matching metadata online. You don’t need to clean up your file names first and if you don’t like the results,  you can change the descriptions and choose your own artwork in the results window before everything is saved to iTunes. And it’s also possible to re-tag those videos you already have in iTunes.

TV Shows

VideoDrive loves TV Shows. When adding a new show, VideoDrive will search for season and episode numbers or airdates to determine any relevant info. When you’re throwing a whole season of episodes onto VideoDrives plate, the right metadata will be applied for all episodes, without you having to correct or change every single one. You can even save your settings in reusable presets if you’re adding episodes of the same show over time. And if your files miss TV show info, arranging them in subfolders will also do the trick. No tedious file renaming required.

Add matching subtitles

VideoDrive will pick up existing subtitle files for your videos and them to iTunes. If there are no subtitles, VideoDrive can search online for them with the help of the Subtitles app. Don’t clean up your file names first, as you might throw out valuable info to find the exact right subtitles for your video.  Subtitles are not hard-coded into the image, so  you can easily show or hide the subtitles when you’re watching your videos.

Queuing, inbox folders and advanced stuff

Queue and forget

VideoDrive can monitor special inbox folders for incoming videos. As soon as a video arrives, VideoDrive will add the file to its Import Queue, even if it was not running before. You can process the whole queue at once, or automate it by setting specified times (for instance at night). If a file is not downloaded or copied completely when it’s being processed, VideoDrive will requeue the file and try again later. It’s smart that way.

Save time

To ensure full compatibility with iTunes and to save battery life on your iPhone or iPad, videos will be converted into H.264 MP4 files. VideoDrive works with the fastest software converter, HandBrake, or a hardware converter (Elgato Turbo.264 HD) if you have one  to get the job done. And to avoid unnecessary conversion, VideoDrive will copy compatible files into iTunes and remux compatible H.264 tracks in compatible containers.

Choose a home for your videos

Like most people, you probably want to keep your music collection on the main drive of your Mac, but not those huge video files. With VideoDrive you can choose a home for your videos (a folder, disk or NAS), and your new movies and TV Shows will be nicely organized in subfolders. Videodrive  can also rename your files so they are also compatible with PLEX. And in case something goes wrong, a backup of your original files is optionally stored in another location.

Advanced stuff

VideoDrive looks simple, but it has a lot of features for advanced users as well: want to have full control over the way your videos are converted or remuxed, choose audio channels or video resolution and size yourself? Use HandBrake as the converter and pass along advanced parameters to it.

Excellent tool if you use your Mac as a media center. Any movie file will be added to iTunes so you can organize them correctly. Very recommended 🙂

VideoDrive: and miracles happen with iTunes. That’s how easy it is to have all your files in iTunes and sit back on your couch and browse them, miraculously accessible to you at your fingertips via your remote control. And, let’s be honest: everyone of us who can afford to shop in the iTunes Store or buy DVDs can spend €14.99 on VideoDrive.

It’s such a useful piece of software, one of the most used apps on my Mac.

Organizing digital videos isn’t easy. When you download a movie, you never really know what to expect, and neither does iTunes, which only plays a limited number of video file types. So users who download movie files are forced to use QuickTime or third-party software to convert them to another format. Fortunately, though, there is an alternative!

This looks just what I need for the management of my movie files! And the price is saying – c’mon!
